Young leaders are great talents in the future, so cultivating youths has become a hot topic nowadays. How to develop them? What’s the successful experience of the US that is at the front of leadership research? The First Asia-Pacific Young Student Leaders Congress is trying to answer the questions by building an exchange platform for young people in Asian-Pacific region.
The first APYSLC will be held in Zhengzhou No.9 high school from July, 21st to 27th, 2013. It was hosted by the Ministry of Education training center for high school principals and Zhengzhou Municipal Education Bureau, and it is co-hosted by Chinese Education Society’s research team on leadership for high school students, Zhengzhou No.9 high school and futurename.cn.
Regarding leadership as the core idea, the organizers and co-organizers designed learning and exchanging activities based on interactive experience. This forum includes dialogues between famous Chinese and American educators, courses on awakening students’ leadership potential, student leaders’ interaction and study tours. And so on. In the activities, students will have a chance to communicate with the educational experts, to participate in the discussion on current global issues, to experience courses that awaken leadership on concentrating, exploring and adapting. They will also visit places like Songshan Shaolin Temple and Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang to learn more about the Chinese traditional culture.
The APYSLC invited educational experts and leadership experts at home and abroad to attend the event. Student leaders can interact with Kwan Chen, the director of the training center for high school principals and dean of institute of public administration at East China Normal University; Mao Jie, Party secretary and Director of Zhengzhou Education Bureau, former president of Zhengzhou Foreign Language School; Cathryn Berger Kaye, a US innovation expert on leadership development and great trainer on interactive demonstration teaching practice. They will experience the charm of youth leadership together.
The unique design of activities attracts active participation of outstanding young people at home and abroad. The international students who take part in this forum come from over 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and Chinese students are from key high schools and universities in dozens of cities and provinces. During this congress, not only can they attend routine events, but they can participate in the cultural exchange workshop hosted by students themselves every day at noon.
